"Young Artist" - oil on canvas, of my other son, painting, and Proxy the Cat, sleeping. This one was made up, to purposefully be the opposite of "A Child's Work" (note upper right has a corner of that painting), with a cool tone instead of warm, and a shallow scene without the easy perspective lines that give the feeling of depth. Instead the play of light on the wall provides atmosphere.

I started with a rough sketch which conceptualized this scene, and the painting is very faithful to my original "mind's eye". This painting, in the dim side lighting occurring in my house, just glows and may be my favorite. The painting was done from live, remembered, or made up objects except for of my son, with was adapted from a photo in harsh fluorescent overhead lights.
