Barbarian Queen

Barbarian Queen, oil on panel.  This came out of a sketch I did at the Melbourne Art Guild, of model Hope on a divan.  It occurred to me to translate it to a painting that would emulate the artist Frank Frazetta, known for his fantasy art and paintings of barbarian warriors and their women.  So I changed the blue divan to this low, armless, and green thing, and, oh yeah, I added a tiger and the jewelry.  Hope is obviously very muscular, which helped suggest the Frazetta treatment.  She also has a large dragonfly tattoo on her back so I put the small ankle one here.  Here is a famous example of Frazetta's art used as cover for an Edgar Rice Burroughs book of John Carter's adventures on Mars:
