Julia in Red,
oil on canvas, 16x20. This photo is not quite the latest, as I
have had to remember my way to a good likeness of the model and so
it is somewhat of slow study. This is largely done from a life
sitting, and then colors worked afterward but without advantage of a
photo. But I had sketched this model other times so I knew her
face, just not quite at this angle. I like the model's pose here and
think I capture the relaxed sitting. I tried to keep the
"alla prima" quick study brush strokes as I worked on it
at home. I also like the bright colors of the robe with the
full blue background.
