Pensive Woman,
oil on canvas, 16x20. This one is a work in progress. It
is 2nd of two paintings done consecutive Saturday poses. The
first was more exact a likeness, from a position further to the
left. Here I cut out a few more years off the model.
Once done, it was missing something, so I invented the shadows of
some blinds which seemed consistent with the mood. Went easy
with them, and probably will beef them up some. Maybe also
shadow more of the model, Joy (ironically) to put the focus on her
face and that side. I like the modeling of shadows and
dimensionality that results on this one.
