Under the Oaks

Under the Oaks, pastel on paper.  This is a scene inspired by a remembered site while driving home up a hill near my house.  A horse stood under a Spanish-moss laden oak tree in the late afternoon sun, with the sun lighting up both the moss and the horse's mane. The horse was sort of Palomino I suppose - red brown on the top and then blond down the sides and legs.  I never saw the horse there again for quite awhile and never got a photo but made do with a photo of the oak on another day.
