Fabulous Fakes

Copying the masters was a traditional way for artists to learn and develop their skills. It certainly was an avenue for me to teach myself.  I don't believe art is all about self expression - the quality of the results matter and whom better  than some of the artists who have inspired me ( or is even available to emulate and learn from for someone not engaged in the art world)?

My first inspiration was Vermeer with his frozen moments in ordinary home interiors.  Another notable inspiration was Bierstadt for his over the top landscapes.  Other copies came for various reasons, which you will find in the accompanying text.   These are all just for my private enjoyment and will not be sold.
